How It All Started
(Munir - age 10)
How It All Started
God calling an orphan boy to follow him…
“…my father had passed away when I was at age 10. As an orphaned child and growing into my teen years, I realized quite early in life that there was no one to care when I cried out for help except for Jesus. There was no one for me to turn to other than Him. I was very poor. I had no money at times to buy food… I remember at times, I had to borrow a pair of pants to wear from one of the boys who was better off financially than me. Having little or no money was a big obstacle in my early life and up to the time I finished high school. The Lord, however, saw me through and opened one door after another before me.”
Dr. Munir & Sharon Kakish
Dr. Munir is the founder and director of RCO Ministries (formally known as Ramallah Christian Outreach). He was born in Jordan in 1947. When Dr. Kakish was ten, his father passed away leaving the family to experience great financial hardships. He was then sent from Jordan to an orphanage in the town of Ramallah (just ten miles north of Jerusalem) for the following eight years.
Today, Dr. Kakish is pastoring a church and directing a Christian Center in the very same town. Sharon was raised in the USA. After graduating from college, they returned to work in Ramallah. Dr. Kakish keeps busy in many ministry activities. Sharon is a teacher by training and has worked in several schools during the last 30 years.
Since 1978, Dr. Kakish and his wife Sharon have been ministering in the Holy Land, reaching the lost for Christ, discipling the faithful and helping the suffering children. Dr. Kakish is also serving as the Chairman of the Local Council of Evangelical Churches in the Holy Land. He continues to serve alongside his lovely wife Sharon. They have four children and nine grandchildren.
